COTS Second Annual Invitational Concert and Senior Scholarship Award—March 13, 2008

This season includes our Second Annual Invitational Concert on Thursday, March 13th at 7:30 p.m. The goal of this concert is to support other choirs in the Shoreline area and encourage young musicians to make singing an ongoing part of their lives. This year the Concert features the Meadowdale High School Chamber Choir, directed by Jeff Horenstein, and Bel Canto from Edmonds-Woodway High School, directed by Charlotte Reese. There is no charge for the concert, but 100% of all donations collected at the concert will be earmarked for the scholarship fund.  The concert will take place at St. Thomas More Catholic Church,  6511 176th Street SW, Lynnwood.

During the evening, the recipients of the Second Annual COTS Scholarship award will be announced, with one senior from each guest choir receiving $1,000 for their future education.

The 2007 scholarship recipients were Lauren Oglesby, Shorewood High School, and Nora Reikosky, Shorecrest High School. (Read Nora's inspiring note to the choir, which she wrote after accepting an invitation to join us at one of our Spring 2007 concert rehearsals).

We look forward to next year's invitational concert and scholarship awards.  Check back to this page for news on other young choirs who will be joining us!

COTS has participated in charity concerts for the homeless and the Make a Wish Foundation. In 2001, COTS collected donations to support New York City firefighters after the 9/11 tragedy.

During the 2004 holiday season, COTS supported the resupplying of materials for schools in Grenada devastated by Hurricane Ivan in September, 2004.

At each concert, the choir accepts nonperishable food donations for Concern for Neighbors food bank. Please bring them with you to the concert. For more information on the food bank, call 425-778-7227.

COTS is a member of the Shoreline Chamber of Commerce
