Community & Education

In addition to singing in our community, the choir’s major community outreach activity revolves around its annual Rose Senior Scholarship Award.  The goal of this award is to encourage young singers from choirs in the Shoreline area to make music an ongoing part of their lives.  We believe strongly that singing and producing wonderful music is a life-long endeavor and want to encourage students to continue this pursuit long after high school. Partial proceeds from our annual spring raffle provide support for this award.

During our tribute to American composers concert series on March 5th and 6th, Choir of the Sound carried on this annual tradition of recognizing two graduating seniors from local area high schools.  Each student applicant was nominated by their high school choir director and completed an essay on what singing in a choir meant to them. This year we were pleased to present two $1,000 scholarships to John Vogel of Lynnwood High School and Lauren Sweeten of Shorewood High School. Congratulations to both John and Lauren!
