Next Stage Choir, founded in 2010, is one of the UK’s most dynamic and accomplished adult choirs. Based in Marlow, St. Albans, and Aylesbury, the choir of 120+ singers is led by Russell Scott, a highly experienced and sought after Musical Director with over 45 years in the music industry.
 
Renowned for its professional standards and vibrant performances, Next Stage Choir has captivated audiences both locally and internationally. The choir’s repertoire spans musicals, pop, jazz, country, and light classics, delivering exceptional SATB harmonies with passion and precision.
 
Over the years, the choir has celebrated numerous achievements, including performing at Proms in the Park, the UK Choir Festival, an MLB baseball game in Arizona, thrilling audiences across Austria, Sweden, Germany, and the United States, and recording four studio albums. Looking ahead, the choir is thrilled to embark on an international tour to the US and Canada in 2025, followed by a performance at the prestigious Berlin Philharmonie in June.
 
Next Stage Choir has some exciting projects at home and is also set to return to the studio to record their fifth album, a Christmas collection, at the iconic Abbey Road Studios in London. These opportunities reflect the choir’s commitment to creating unforgettable musical experiences for both its members and audiences.
 
With its focus on high-quality performances and unique opportunities, Next Stage Choir continues to inspire and connect through the power of music.

Next Stage Choir
 
Russell Scott is a renowned figure in the music industry, with over 45 years of experience as a Producer, Musical Director, Singer, and Vocal Coach. Russell has earned acclaim for his artistry, with over 100,000 record sales from his four solo albums and contributions to numerous film soundtracks, opera, pop, and musical theatre recordings.
 
Throughout his career, Russell has performed at some of the UK’s most prestigious venues, including the Royal Albert Hall, the London Palladium, Royal Festival Hall, as well as a host of international venues and arenas. He has contributed on many movies and soundtracks including the Pirates of the Caribbean and Shrek 2.
 
Russell’s work extends beyond the stage to large-scale projects, including producing and directing events that bring together performers of all levels. He is the founder of the UK Choir Festival, a highly regarded event, offering workshops and performances that inspire singers and directors alike.
 
Russell has been Musical Director of Next Stage Choir since its formation in 2010 and strives to create incredible and unqiue opportunties for its membership.
 
Russell has produced shows, working alongside industry figures Tim Rice, Don Black and Stephen Schwartz and Leslie Bricusse, including a major tour of Godspell following a sell-out performance in London’s West End.
 
As a vocal coach and mentor, Russell works with clients ranging from aspiring performers to seasoned professionals, helping them refine their craft and achieve their goals. His dedication to vocal health and his expertise in Musical Theatre and Classical technique have solidified his reputation as a leading figure in the industry.

Jeremy D. Matheis
Artistic Director
Choir of the Sound
 
Conductor, vocal coach and vocalist, Jeremy D. Matheis has been the Artistic Director for Choir of the Sound since March, 2011. Using an energetic and unique approach to teaching vocal technique, Jeremy has quickly gained recognition for his work with choral ensembles. He is based in Seattle, Washington and his experience in music is broad, embracing conducting, barbershopping, teaching, singing and Church music. He received his B.A. in Music from Trinity Christian College while pursuing advanced studies in voice pedagogy and conducting. Jeremy then relocated to Seattle for graduate study at the University of Washington to work with Dr. Geoffrey Boers and Abraham Kaplan while acquiring vocal instruction with Gregory Carroll. He then joined the St. Mark’s Compline Choir in 2006 and was able to learn from and sing for its founding Director, Dr. Peter R. Hallock.A man with diverse musical interests and talents, Mr. Matheis was the previous Director of Music at Bothell United Methodist Church, where he directed the Chancel Choir, Chant Choir, Bell Choir, and Worship Ensemble, overseeing an eclectic music department with voice and instrumental ensembles for all ages. Previously he was Director of Music at Sand Point Community United Methodist Church. He was also recently Director of the Seattle SeaChordsmen, a Barbershop chorus in the Barbershop Harmony Society, helping them achieve the distinction of Most Improved Chorus at the 2010 Division II Competition. Before joining Choir of the Sound, Jeremy was the Artistic Director/Conductor for the Cascade Foothills Chorale in Enumclaw from 2007-2010. Mr. Matheis’ work as a teaching conductor has brought him increased distinction, focusing on building technique through increased knowledge and engagement. Singers appreciate the freshness he brings to familiar music and the way in which he connects with his choir using his natural, infectious energy.
 
In addition to an expanding conducting career, Jeremy continues to sing weekly and is the Associate Director of The Compline Choir at Saint Mark’s Cathedral. He is also a Festival Co-Chair for the Greater Seattle Choral Consortium’s biennial festival, Seattle Sings!
 
Jeremy lives in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Seattle with his husband Jeffrey Ricco, who also sings in many of his choirs.

 
Anjali Chudasama
Associate Director
Choir of the Sound
 
Conductor, educator, and vocalist, Anjali Chudasama, is passionate about developing identity and connecting with the community through music. She is currently a second-year in the Masters of Music in Choral Conducting program at the University of Washington, where she conducts the Treble Choir, assistant conducts the Chamber Singers, and is a teaching assistant for music history classes. Before moving to Seattle, she was an active performer and conductor in the Chicagoland area, particularly centered in the intersection between music education, choral music, and community music making. Serving as Honors Conductor and subsequently Guest Conductor for special projects for the Wheaton College Concert Choir, Anjali was able to participate in the creative and logistical planning for several interdisciplinary projects such as “FEAST”, “Singing the Reformation: the Polychoral Works of Michael Praetorius”, and “The Big Sing”, as well as serving as the organizer and director for the Chicago Weekend of musical outreach and continuing the WCCC musical relationship with the Sheridan Correctional Facility.An educator by trade and by heart, Anjali has taught Choir, Music History and Appreciation, and Multicultural Musical Intersections in classrooms with students of all ages from K-5, to middle school and high school, to a community treble choir in the Chicagoland area, striving to utilize a student-centered and equity-based pedagogical approach. She has also performed as an active Mezzo-Soprano soloist, chamber musician, and symphonic chorister to feed her love of the vocal instrument, and teaches voice lessons to students of all ages. In Seattle, she has sought to continue that work by helping to revitalize the UW Sings undergraduate choral department, growing numbers and organizing the capstone project, “Se Oye Mi Voz”, a collaboration with artists and non-profit organizations to tell the stories of female entrepreneurs in Honduras. Anjali hopes to continue to serve the Seattle community through her work as Associate Director of the Choir of the Sound, joining this organization’s work in diverse programming and community involvement.
 
Avery Groenmann
Collaborative Pianist
Choir of the Sound
 
Avery Groenmann began accompanying at the tender age of 13. With extensive training and a lifetime of experience in both piano and voice, he prides himself on his musical versatility. A graduate of Shoreline Community College with a degree in Piano Performance, he currently works as Staff Accompanist for the Shoreline Voice Department. He also acts as Music Director for local high school drama productions (including Shorecrest High School’s Into the Woods and Les Miserables among others), as well as choral accompanist for Terrace View Presbyterian Church.Avery particularly enjoys musical collaboration, and is very grateful for this opportunity!
